“Eighty percent of success in life is just showing up.” – Woody Allen
Welcome back, Comets! We hope you all had a restful and productive spring break, recharged and ready to finish the year strong. We’ve got a lot of exciting events coming up in the next few weeks, so let’s dive right in!
Prom is just around the corner! Save the date for April 12th! The Grand March will take place at 8 p.m., with Prom starting at 8:30 p.m. This year’s theme is Midnight Masquerade, so get ready for a night of elegant fun, mystery, and celebration! Whether you’re attending with a date or flying solo, it’s sure to be a magical evening. Tickets are $20 for a single and $35 for a couple, so be sure to grab yours soon before they sell out! A quick reminder: ineligible students are not allowed to attend, so please make sure your eligibility is up-to-date.
Next week is our second Book Fair of the year! We’re looking for volunteers to help Mrs. Gowing run the fair and make it a success. This is a great way to earn some of your required volunteer hours and support literacy in our school community. Remember, every high school student needs at least 25 volunteer hours in order to graduate, so why not take this opportunity to get a head start? The fair will offer a variety of books for all interests and age groups, so be sure to swing by and support our school library.
Big news from the Alexander Mock Trial Team! Last weekend, our talented Mock Trial team competed at the state competition, and we are thrilled to announce that they will be heading to Nationals for the fourth year in a row! This is a huge achievement, and we couldn’t be prouder of our team’s dedication and hard work. This year, the team is looking forward to warmer weather in Arizona, where they’ll compete against some of the top teams from across the country. Last year’s competition even included teams from South Korea and Guam, so you can imagine the level of talent on display! Special shout-out to Vivian Lundeen, who placed first in the Courtroom Artist contest for her stunning sketches of the courtroom and competitors. Tylan Womelsdorf was awarded Outstanding Witness for his amazing portrayal of Dr. Hayden West, and Teija Hokenson earned the title of Outstanding Lawyer. Their outstanding performances are a testament to the hard work and teamwork that went into their preparation. Best of luck at Nationals, Comets!
This weekend, the Elementary Wrestling Club will be heading to State in Bismarck, and we are all excited to see how our young Comets perform. These athletes have been training hard, and we can’t wait to cheer them on as they compete at the highest level. We are so proud of their efforts and can’t wait to see their hard work pay off.
Elementary Basketball is also in full swing, and we have a home game tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the school gym! Come out and support our teams as they show off their skills and hard work. There’s nothing like the energy of a home game, so bring your school spirit and cheer on our young athletes. Whether you're a player, parent, or fellow student, it’s always great to see the Comet community come together!
That’s all for this week, Comets! We hope you’re as excited as we are for the events ahead. Stay involved, keep up the great work, and let’s continue to make the most of this spring semester. Go Comets!
