“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive- to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” – Marcus Aurelius
Welcome to FFA Week, Comets! It’s been an exciting and action-packed week, so let’s dive into all of the happenings around school!
To kick things off, this week is FFA Week, which means it’s time for our dress-up days! Tuesday was Camouflage Day, Wednesday was Pajama Day, Thursday was Western Day, and tomorrow is Blue and Gold Day. It’s been great seeing all of you getting into the spirit and showing your school pride through your outfits. But that’s not all! The FFA club has been busy hosting fun, school-wide activities every day during 4th period. From “Pie a Teacher in the Face” to “Kiss a Critter,” it’s been a week full of excitement and fun-filled moments.
In other news, Wednesday was an important day for several of our students! The Junior class took the ASVAB, a critical step in exploring future career options and opportunities. Also on Wednesday, the Wrestling team traveled to the State competition, representing us with pride. At the same time, we had some amazing accomplishments in academics as the regional Spelling Bee took place. We’re incredibly proud to share that Cora Dean became the third person in the last 30 years to make it to the State Spelling Bee competition from Alexander! What an incredible achievement! We wish her the best of luck as she competes at the state level!
Now, let's talk about last Saturday’s events. Our Boys' Basketball team had a big home game against Kenmare, and though the outcome of the game was intense, their determination and sportsmanship were truly inspiring. Meanwhile, our Speech team was busy competing in South Prairie, where several members achieved impressive results. Eleanna Hokenson earned 5th place in EPR (Extemporaneous Public Reading) and 6th place in Entertain, while Teija Hokenson secured 4th place in Humorous. Not to be outdone, Vivian Lundeen also placed 4th in EPR. Huge congratulations to all of our Speech team members for their hard work and success!
And that’s not all—while all of this was happening, our FTC (First Tech Challenge) team was out at their state competition, where they showed their incredible teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills. After a lot of hard work and dedication, we’re thrilled to announce that they placed 2nd for teams and 3rd for qualifiers, which is an amazing accomplishment. Way to go, FTC!
On Monday, Boys' Basketball competed again and won, scoring over 50 points on Tioga. Great work, boys!
Have a fantastic rest of the week, Comets, and we look forward to seeing you all on Friday! Keep up the great work!
