Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day, Comets!

We’re thrilled to be kicking off another exciting week, and there’s so much to celebrate! We’ve had an incredible week packed with accomplishments and achievements, so let’s dive right in and share the great news with everyone.

A huge congratulations to this month’s Student of the Month award winners! Cheyenne Vigil from 5th grade, Bentley Williams from 8th grade, and Olivia Vagle from our Senior class have all earned this prestigious recognition. Cheyenne was nominated for her outstanding communication skills, always keeping her peers and teachers engaged with her thoughtful insights and strong voice. Bentley has been recognized for his exceptional patience and incredible work ethic, constantly putting in the effort to improve and help others along the way. Olivia earned her nomination for her ability to adapt quickly to new situations, showing maturity and leadership even when facing unexpected challenges. We couldn’t be more proud to call these amazing students Comets, and we wish them continued success in everything they do.

Now, let’s talk about all the exciting action taking place this week! Last Saturday, we saw some fantastic Speech results, with several of our talented students earning top placements. Eleanna Hokenson placed 6th in EPR, Tylan Womelsdorf placed 3rd in Persuade, Garrett Rider placed 9th in Storytelling, Kevin Pederson placed 6th in Persuade, Teija Hokenson placed 7th in EPR, Geary Allan placed 6th in Radio, and Waylon Richter claimed an impressive 2nd place in Entertain! These students have worked tirelessly to hone their speaking skills, and their dedication has certainly paid off. Great job, everyone!

Looking ahead, our Girls’ Basketball team is gearing up for district playoffs starting Thursday in New Town. The tournament runs through Saturday, and we encourage all Comets to show their school spirit and cheer on our hardworking girls as they give it their all on the court. Their effort, teamwork, and perseverance have been remarkable this season, and we know they’re ready to take on the challenge!

Saturday is shaping up to be another action-packed day for our Comets! Our Boys’ Basketball team will be facing off against Kenmare at home at 11:00 AM, so come out and support our boys as they look to dominate on their home turf. Meanwhile, our Speech team will be competing all day at Max-South Prairie, continuing to showcase their impressive skills and passion for public speaking. And don’t forget about the exciting FTC team’s State Competition! After a stellar performance in their recent robotics competition, our FTC team qualified for the State competition by securing a first-place finish. We wish them the best of luck as they represent our school at the state level!

In other exciting news, the McKenzie County Spelling Bee is just around the corner, set for the 19th of February. Several of our talented Comets will be competing, and we know they’ll make us proud. From Alexander, we have an incredible group of students participating, including:
