“Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling.” –Edna Ferber

Christmas break started a day early this year, thanks to North Dakota’s famously unpredictable and sometimes wild winters! We hope everyone is staying safe and warm after the blizzard that hit last night. The winter weather certainly made an impact on our schedules, but we hope you're all cozy at home, ready to enjoy the upcoming holidays.

Finals wrapped up this week, and what a relief it is to finally get through the semester! It was a busy and challenging few months, but our students worked hard, stayed focused, and finished strong. We know it wasn’t easy, but the perseverance shown by each student is commendable. Take a moment to reflect on your accomplishments, and then enjoy a well-deserved break!

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the canned food drive this year. The generosity shown by our community is heartwarming, and we couldn’t be more grateful. The classes with the most donations were the 7th grade for middle and high school and Ms. Quale’s class in elementary, but every contribution counted and made a difference. Through your efforts, we were able to provide food for nine local families in need, making this holiday season a little brighter for those facing hardship.

This Tuesday, we enjoyed our annual Christmas Concert, a heartwarming event that brought together students from all grade levels. Starting at 6:30 PM, Ms. Belden conducted a wonderful performance that showcased the talents of her classes, from Pre-K to the high school choir. The joy and spirit of the season truly came to life through the music, and we thank Ms. Belden and all the students who performed for their hard work and dedication.

Basketball has been in full swing this week, with games scheduled on Monday and Thursday. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans, and both of Thursday’s games were cancelled due to the snowstorm. Still, our athletes have been putting in the effort and doing their best, and we look forward to more games in the New Year.

Yesterday was a sharp reminder of how unpredictable North Dakota winters can be, but it’s also a reminder to always be prepared. Make sure everyone is equipped with the proper winter gear, as safety is our top priority. Students without a jacket will not be admitted onto the bus, so please double-check that your child has everything they need to stay warm. If you are in need of winter gear, don’t hesitate to contact the office—we are here to help!

As we head into the Christmas holiday, we want to wish all of our students, staff, and families a very Merry Christmas. May your time be filled with joy, peace, and the warmth of the season. We look forward to seeing everyone back in 2025, ready to kick off the New Year with enthusiasm and excitement. Until then, take care, enjoy the break, and stay safe out there in the snow and cold! Go Comets!
