New York City in the Winter

“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.” ~Hamilton Wright Mabie

It’s the most wonderful time of the year- and Alexander is showing it with decorations galore on display during the 4th annual Christmas Stroll tonight! Each year, a holiday bazaar is run in Alexander with booths for food, fun, and gifts. Guaranteed fun for the whole family, the Christmas Stroll will run until 8:30 at the school. Get your Christmas shopping done and support local businesses and vendors!

The canned food drive is still running until the 17th. Lend a helping hand by donating canned food (with a current sell-by date), taking a tag from the Giving Tree, or doing both! The ways to help this holiday season are limitless.

Girls’ basketball had their first game this week against Trenton, with a final score of 11-81. They played hard against a tough team, and we’re confident they’ll continue to grow as a group!

Boys’ basketball has also started, and team morale is high. “I have faith in our team,” said sophomore Jullian Gant.

“We’ll be good once we get the play chemistry down,” said senior Shane Cross confidently.

“We lost a lot of people last year,” remarks junior Jacob Novak, “so our numbers are short. We’ve got to stay out of foul trouble, keep our heads in the game, and get the ball in the basket. But I think we’re bonding together, and practice is going well. We’re locked in, so don’t sleep on us.”

Winter sports may be in full swing, but Senior Athlete of the Year for Region Nine, Jordan Hernandez, the football season goes on in Hawaii in two weeks. “They take two people from every state,” Jordan said in an interview. “I’ll be gone for a week. I think it’ll be nice because it’s winter here, and I’m excited.” Jordan has been getting his face in the papers lately, and he’s proud to get our town some attention. “It’s cool to be a part of Alexander,” he grinned, “Alexander should be in the paper more.” A Minot State recruit, Jordan plans to enjoy college football. “If it goes further, that’s great. But I’m focusing on having fun in college.”

Alexander is proud to have such an amazing and dedicated athlete!

Old Man Winter is here, and snow is on the ground! While fun to play in, snow is very cold and can cause frostbite. Therefore, students are required to have the necessary winter gear. Any student needing winter gear can contact the office.

Stay safe, warm, and jolly, Comets!
