Tonya Vigil in the Haunted Museum

“…a full moon was when mysterious things happen and wishes come true.” – Shannon A. Thompson

It’s the day all candy and spooky lovers have been waiting for- Halloween! But here in Alexander, our spooky festivities have been going on all week.

It started out with the First Technological Challenge team’s Haunted Museum last weekend. Hundreds of people came and lived through classic horror movies, including Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. There were screams, there were giggles, and there was an endless supply of fun! The FTC has always had creative ways to decorate, and this year didn’t disappoint with spiders, candles, and skulls (all fake, we assume- some of those candles may have been real) scattered around the museum. The guides were engaging, and worked hard to add a bit of humor to the proceedings.

“Do you like the lake?” Guests were asked before entering the Friday the 13th room. “Yes? No? Great!”

To those who’ve seen the movie, that line is a dead giveaway that they’re about to be entering a room with the fictional Camp Crystal Lake’s famous killer, Jason.

Moving on from active scares, on Tuesday the school parking lot hosted the annual Trunk-or-Treat, an alternative (or addition) to classic trick-or-treating. Instead of knocking on doors, ghouls and monsters (alternatively, girls and boys in costume) walked around the parking lot, visiting parked cars to gather their candy. The trunks are always well decorated and unique and everyone involved has a lot of fun.

On Halloween itself, the school was filled with all sorts of creative costumes from Pre-K to 12th grade. The hallways sending the girls off to the Volleyball tournament were packed with all sorts of fun outfits, and even the teachers got in on the fun. Notable costumes include the Mario Bros, Captain Underpants, alien abductees, and more!

Districts for Volleyball started Thursday, and will be going through the 4th at Williston State. Swing by and cheer on our girls! This year’s team is amazing and we’re positive they’ll play well.

Donations for the Animal shelter are still open. Bring in some extra pet stuff for a creature in need to Mrs. Severson or the office.

Happy All Hallow’s Eve, Comets! May all your tricks be treats!
