“Words are often seen hunting for an idea, but ideas are never seen hunting for words.” -Josh Billings

As October goes on, spooky season is already coming up in Alexander! With the FTC team’s Haunted House opening this weekend and the annual Trunk or Treat on the 29th, it’s safe to say Alexander is ready for the colder weather.

With fall comes football playoffs, and we’re excited to host the first playoff game on home turf on Friday! Our boys have been working hard, and it shows in every game they play. Our younger boys have a great team to look up to. You can pre-order tickets now for $10/adult and $5/student, instead of the gate price of $15/adult and $5/student.

Another topic buzzing around the halls is hunting. Quite a few North Dakota hunting seasons opened over the last few days, including pheasant, moose, and youth deer. “Hunting is probably the most unique thing you can ever do,” Says Junior Matthew Kline, and he’s right. Every hunter has a different experience, every hunt. It’s a great way to get outside and explore!

“It’s fun,” Says 7th grader Foster Rhykus. “It’s a way to bond with my dad and my uncle, and I love exploring.” Plenty of the young hunters around here took Hunter’s Safety with the school, and we’re proud to say that the next generation of hunters will know their stuff.

On Wednesday, the school went into a red code. Luckily, there was no threat. But if there had been, our students have been taught what to do in a red code using the A.L.I.C.E protocol: Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. Our teachers are also trained to respond to an active threat situation, and they are always a pillar of strength for our students to look up to, remaining calm and focused. With help from our law enforcement, it was determined that there was no threat and the school day resumed.

With cooler weather comes the need for more layers, especially with North Dakota winds. Make sure to stay safe and warm this fall, Comets! See you Friday!
