As spooky season rolls around, the FTC team is hard at work planning the 4th annual Haunted Museum in Alexander! Each year, the Lewis and Clark Trail Museum is transformed into a bone-chilling museum that only gets scarier by the hour. Swing by next weekend for a fun fright!
Middle School Student Council held elections for all roles this week. “I feel that it is important that student council understands how the government process works for elections,” Mrs. Land, the MS Student Council advisor, says. “It’s also important that they understand the responsibilities of government officials.” Those in the running for office made their own campaign posters, displayed around the school, to earn votes. The winners of the elections are as follows: Amelia Kline as President, Annabel Abell as Vice President, and Charlotte Hackley as Secretary.
In the realm of sports, last Friday’s football game was the pinnacle of excitement, with a Comet win of 30-8 against Tioga. “A lot of younger guys stepped up big time,” Forward-back/Line-backer Jacen Rustand said, “as well as our backups. We played gritty, and it paid off. We’re pretty consistent so far, but we need to go harder into our next two games and playoffs. Seeing everyone show up and support us means a lot to the team. It boosts mentality for the games, and I think we have a good shot at playoffs.” Jacen wowed the field on Friday, running half the field and scoring a touchdown.
All of our elementary football teams reign undefeated so far. We’re confident that they’re going to be a fantastic Varsity team someday.
In our classrooms, animals are a big interest right now. Mrs. Simonson’s third grade class is finishing up a unit on bees with an information document on how to help them. “I was surprised at what I found out about bees,” Stetson said after researching these flying pollinators. Meanwhile, in Ms. Stahosky’s art class, students are drawing bison and putting them around the world- on paper, that is. Students draw their bison in any place they want- even outer space! “It’s a fun chance to be really creative,” Says Ms. Jill.
Rumor has it that last Saturday’s Homecoming Dance was a ball (pun intended). A lot of people said they had a lot of fun, and it’s being called the best yet… until Prom, that is. But until then, Homecoming of 2024 will be remembered as out of this world- truly a Night in Neverland.
This week, several high school students had the chance to explore future career ideas by job shadowing. Places visited can range from a courthouse to a bakery! We know wherever they end up, our students will be a true asset to any company!
The Book Fair is coming up, and High School students can earn volunteer hours working. These volunteer hours build up to being able to graduate.
Speaking of volunteering, the High School Student Council is holding a pet drive. Donations will be given to pets in need at the Animal Shelter. Any donations can be made to any Student Council member.
For those interested in the ongoing construction project, updates will be posted on the page within the hour. Take a look at some new photos!
